Food was expensive, 15$ for fish and chips and 8.95 for kids hot dog. For this price, you are better off at any other more modern hotel with reliable wifi and electricity. I sat at the bar and let's just say I felt like I was at the basement of my house eating a burger and drinking whiskey with friends at my bar. I also loved the free homemade chips at the bar.The service was great (that is how they got the star), but this hotel does not meet expectations, especially when it's an "overflow" for the main Carolina hotel. The room was not the most modern but they were perfectly adequate. Never. I would have understood on a Friday or Saturday but on a random Wednesday, that is unacceptable to me. I was willing to pay that to sit in a nice place. I received my order fairly quickly but it was missing an item. I've been twice; both times the food was better than good. The location is great as just outside you have Pinehurst "down town". There's also the charming Tavern which offers indoor seating and outdoor dining seasonally. Stayed here with my wife for two nights. I would have tipped more!) If your 60+ in age you may like this place, but it is really nothing special. If you yelp, you are likely young and hip. The staff was excellent with some much attention and friendliness.

It's no wonder the Holly is a Four-Diamond hotel. The big hotel, the Carolina, is a short walk (or shuttle) away. Our room had wallpaper peeling off the wall in more than one spot. I'm late 30's and I was with my young son. And at the restaurant, there’s an 18% tip included which, I ended up paying 20% on top of that because I didn’t realize it one evening. And the service, again, is horrible and while I was here the place was maybe at 25% capacity. The staff was very kind and social and the food was great. Once you have that expectation - you will have an enjoyable stay. The breakfast buffet is $30 but coffee is “free” if you ask. Waited 30 minutes for 1 round of drinks and it took them until 9:00 to bring our entrees.The staff and the environment made this stay a nice experience. However, the Kenny G music playing, my empty drink, and the surprise that gratuity is added on your bill automatically (and nobody mentioned it, I had to ask for an itemized receipt!!!! They get 2 stars just because our waitress was nice and the bruschetta was really good, but our service was awful. When I walked in I felt comfortable as I was greeted by everyone! Beds were comfy and housekeeping did a wonderful job of cleaning the room each day while we were gone. This certainly does not reflect the high standards we set for our facilities and our team. Breakfast buffet was the best I've ever had and they even do custom egg orders. The toilet paper holder was not secured to the wall, receipts from prior guests' stays were found in our room, paint was on the finishes, the tiles in the bathroom were missing... . Disappointing in many ways and not a great reflection of the Resort's standards and services typically provided. I had never visited Pinehurst Resort, and so I was not sure what to expect. That goes way beyond the charm of an old hotel. The food was delicious and the manager was very kind but I can't get over our waitress.Yikes! Horrible lighting thru nice lamps.
